VLH-3000: sound signals and voice communication

For the voice command, it is enough to hold the microphone button, but the repeated sound signal requires a different mode of operation. The Standard Horizon VLH-3000 combines speakerphone, feedback, intercom and automatic alarm. When choosing a system, it is useful to separate two tasks: what the operator tells people and what sound cycle it intentionally turns on. Then it is clear what operations to check on the installed set and why you need a separate control unit.
Automatic cycle instead of manual countdown
In This is the VLH-3000. Automatic Signaling is provided. The operator chooses access to the front horn, rear or both and includes the desired program. The selected repeat sequence sounds before the function is turned off. Practical benefit: You don’t need to manually measure each interval of the same cycle while the rest of the system is left to the person.
It is not an automatic determination of visibility, movement or navigational status. Program designations on the panel are not sensors of these states. Before purchasing, it is important to understand how the operator chooses the desired mode, sees the active exit and stops the alarm. The applicability of signals to a particular vessel and operating conditions is set separately; the button list does not confirm the compliance of the entire installation with applicable requirements.
Voice, Repetitive Program and Manual Signal
Hail/Listen-Back and automatic alarm systems have different operator actions. When voice work, the microphone is used to announce, after the release of the PTT, reverse listening is provided through the selected horn. The automatic alarm repeats the selected program; the manual also describes the manual HORN and SIREN modes that work when PTT is pressed. Therefore, the request “needs a loud sound” should be replaced with a specific list of operations.
| Required surgery | What is the VLH-3000 | What to check when selecting |
|---|---|---|
| Pass a voice announcement | Hail/Listen-Back via selected exit | Hearable speech and the right direction |
| Repeat the selected sequence | UNWY, STOP, SAIL, TOW, ANCH and AGND | Launch control, active exit and stop |
| Manual signal. | HORN or SIREN with PTT control | Difference from left on cycle |
| Talk to the internal post | Intercom with suitable connected devices | Specific negotiating point and feedback |
The PA button turns off the automatic alarm according to the manual. This action is useful to include in the system demonstration: the operator must confidently transition from a repeating signal to a normal voice operation. Do not assume that an announcement or conversation with an intercom will always interrupt the cycle exactly as the user expects. The order of switching is checked by the manual and actual configuration of the block.
The horn must fit the task
The automatic sequence is formed in the control device, and the audible result depends on the horn, its load and location. The manual provides the recommended electrical parameters of the connected devices. Therefore, the preserved old horn is first identified, then checked for suitability. Changing its resistance is not a way to obtain arbitrary range or guaranteed signal legibility.
Separately consider reverse listening: it is the reception of sound from the selected zone through the provided connection, and not radio reception. Loud communication does not replace VHF-radio. For the task with internal communication points, appropriate intercom devices are needed; the presence of a conventional external speaker in the proposed kit does not in itself confirm the remote call function.
Check transitions between regimes
For a new post, write down a short acceptance script in advance. For example: select the agreed output, check the voice command, turn on the automatic mode provided by the project, make sure it is indicated, stop and return to the voice. The check is carried out under agreed conditions, where it does not create false or disturbing signals. Here, the availability of buttons, clear indication and confident control, not only the presence of sound, are important.
The required power supply and installation site are included in the same project. The VLH-3000 manual specifies a power supply of 13.8 V DC with a permissible deviation; the 24 V marine network cannot be considered a direct compatible source. It is also necessary to provide secure placement of terminals and suitable lines. The presence of automatic programs does not negate these normal requirements for a functioning system.
Purchase an agreed VLH-3000 kit
In our Standard Horizon VLH-3000 product card describes the loudhailer with a speaker and horn. The catalog photo shows the main unit with the microphone; external devices are not shown. The horn models and dynamics, condition, actual availability and deadline are specified when ordering. Additional intercom devices and installation are included according to the agreed composition.
Transmit the model of the existing system, the desired operations, power supply and the city of receipt. For St. Petersburg, Murmansk, Vladivostok, Aktau or Atyrau, we will calculate delivery by agreed order. The guidance in this material applies to the VLH-3000 without the A suffix: if another configuration is offered, its functions and accessories are verified separately. So quotation can be estimated by the real work of the operator, and not by the general name of "signal-loud-speaking installation".
- Identify the required operation
- Select the intended exit
- Include voice or selected program
- Check active mode
- Stop the program and return to voice
Voice command PTT and Hail/Listen-Back
Repeating signal Automatic Signaling prior to shutdown
Functional scheme of mode selection, not a requirement to use a signal. The VLH-3000 does not automatically detect the navigation situation.
Questions before buying
Will the VLH-3000 pick the signal by sight or motion?
The program selected by the operator is automatically repeated. Selection by navigation, applicability of signals and confirmation of vessel requirements are not automatic functions of the unit.
Is a regular voice ad and a repeatable program one thing?
These are different regimes. The manual describes Hail/Listen-Back and Automatic Signaling; a PA button is provided to disable automatic alarms. Transitions are checked on a specific installed configuration.
What can you buy for that price?
In its own card the quotation of SSU with a speaker and a mining one is indicated. External device models, actual composition, availability, additional negotiating posts and work are confirmed in the quotation.
