NGC-3000: a course of several instruments

On a ship, the course data may be required by several appliances, and the purchase must take into account the entire scheme of connections. A convenient starting point is the consumer statement: who receives data, what data, and on what separate line.
One source, different requirements
In the manufacturer's card NGC-3000 lists the functions of determining the course and navigation data, as well as several outputs RS-422. The published specification contains three outputs. IEC 61162-1/61162-2 and selectable transmission speeds. This information helps to assess the task, but does not confirm that any three marine appliances can be immediately connected without setting up.
AIS, course repeater and other navigation equipment can expect different messages and exchange parameters. For each consumer, write down the exact model, the required data type, interface, available documentation, and the existing track. If the requirements are not known, first specify them, then select the distribution of outputs.
Do not substitute the direction of the course.
Heading describes the orientation of the vessel, COG - the direction of its movement relative to the ground. A device that needs a course cannot be considered provided just because the next screen displays COG. The statement indicates the specific parameter required, not the general “GPS transmission”.
The manufacturer lists among the output messages HDT, THS, ROT and navigation quotation. The correct composition, support by the receiving party and behavior with unreliable data are checked for a specific scheme. The presence of the message name in the general list does not replace the check of the selected settings on the supplied device.
How to distribute connections before purchasing
First, draw a separate line from the source to each consumer. Then the message, the exchange rate and the assigned port are recorded for it. One output should not be mechanically divided between all inputs: the permissible number of connections and the need for an allocator are determined by documentation and project. The number of consumers does not give a ready answer.
It is useful to provide verification of each connection separately. For example, first agree a line to AIS, then to a repeater and then to a third device. This is the order of acceptance, not a universal installation instruction: contacts, screens, connections and protection are performed according to the manuals of the equipment.
Device kit and external lines - different parts of the order
The quotation lists the display, processor and antenna units, their connecting cables and mounts. External cables to consumers, transition elements, possible distributor and works are added according to the agreed scheme. The word "cable kit" is not enough to make all marine lines included in the price.
If a part of the old system remains, attach its markings and diagram. Temperature conditions are also set separately for block locations. The general characteristic in the old statement cannot be automatically extended to each element: the manual of a particular configuration must conform to the installation conditions.
What counts as the result of acceptance
Showing the course on your own display is only one part of the check. For each agreed consumer, it is necessary to confirm the reception of the necessary data, the correctness of the settings and a clear reaction to the absence or inaccuracy of information. The results are recorded together with the assignment of outputs, so that further replacement of one device does not turn into a new examination of the entire system.

Questions before ordering
Can I connect three devices without a distributor?
The manufacturer specifies three outputs, but the final decision depends on the requirements of each consumer and the scheme chosen. The number of outputs alone does not confirm the compatibility of the entire system.
How is the rate different from COG for such an order?
The course characterizes the orientation of the vessel, COG - the direction of movement relative to the ground. The application requires specifying the parameter that the receiving device really expects.
Are all cables included in the package?
This is determined by the specification. Connections between NGC-3000 units and external lines to other devices are listed separately, with lengths and accessories.
