Kristall-40VP: readings, depth profiles and seabed mapping
To check the depths in the internal water body, you can look for a separate sonar, a set for passing along a given line or a full-fledged solution for shooting the site. The name “measuring” does not make these purchases the same. With Crystal-40VP, it is first useful to determine what the customer wants to get after work: several values, a profile or a decorated bottom plan. Additional instruments, measurement organization and quotation composition depend on this.
Measuring instrument and result of work
Guideline 4312-001-06072590-2014 defines the purpose of Crystal-40VP as a measurement of the depths of internal water bodies: rivers, lakes and reservoirs. The main measuring path consists of a central instrument and a piezoacoustic transducer. This gives the buyer a basis for measuring depth, but not a ready answer to all the questions of the shooting project.
For example, the company wants to compare the depths at several known pier points after a change in water level. Another organization orders a profile along the line of future work. The third one needs a plot plan with a certain coverage. Even if one sonar model is used everywhere, the ordered results vary. In the query, you should call the result in words, and then agree on the requirements for data and their design.

The range should be compared with the water.
In the above RE, a minimum measured depth of not more than 0.4 m is indicated without correction for the depth of the transducer and a maximum of not less than 39.5 m. These characteristics should be compared with the task before the purchase. You can not choose the device only by the word "river": the desired area may have different depths and conditions, and the planned work - additional requirements for measurement.
Separately consider the quality of the final result. The discreteness of the indication of 0.01 m does not mean centimeter accuracy of the survey area. The manual normalizes the error of the measurement itself separately. For the complex, other initial data and conditions are added. Therefore, the wording “needs accuracy of one centimeter” requires a meaningful task, and not the choice of a sonar with two decimal places.
What Measurement in Motion Means
In paragraph 1.1.3. of RE, the steady measurement is described at a maximum speed of the vessel during measurement of 20 km/h, rolling and bottom slopes not exceeding 10°. These conditions are considered together. The speed number is not a permit to perform any work on such a course and does not replace the chosen method, the installation of the converter or the actual conditions of the section.
Motion by itself does not add forward view to the sounder, nor does it turn the sequence of individual measurements into a continuous survey. If the task is to find individual objects or obtain a detailed model of a complex bottom, it should be named separately. The supplier must match the class of the instrument with the result; it is wrong to declare in advance any sonar sufficient for such a task.
Testimonial kit and shooting complex
For a profile or plan, you will need to agree on how position and time relate to depth, who receives the data and what result the customer receives. There is no need to pre-assign the program or promise compatibility on a single connector. It is important to define the boundary of responsibility: what comes as equipment, what is set up separately, and what relates to fieldwork and processing.
Compare the quotation for one task. Specify the reservoir, the estimated depths, installation conditions, the desired result and the current means of determining the position, if any. Then you can discuss Crystal-40VP for a particular measuring path or consider another class of equipment when the requirements go beyond its proven capabilities.

Crystal-40VP immediately gives a ready-made bottom plan?
The sonar measures depth. For the plan, the position of measurements, the coverage of the site, the processing and the format of the result are separately set; the presence of the device does not confirm the readiness of the entire shooting complex.
Can we consider the price of dividing 0.01 m accuracy?
Discrete indicates the step of indication. The error of the device and the whole complex is evaluated separately, taking into account the measurement conditions and the desired result.
Is the 20 km/h limit suitable for any measurement task?
This is a characteristic of the measurement conditions in the given RE together with the restrictions on pitching and bottom slope. The mode of specific works is determined by the task, documentation and actual installation.
