DR-309: selecting the data source and output
At an additional post, they want to choose a course from different sources, and then another device is connected along the line. When buying a DR-309, it is important to find out more than just what number the operator will see. Switching the source can also change the data that the repeater transmits to the next consumer. Therefore, the choice of DR-309 is useful to consider as part of the overall chain, while maintaining a clear connection between input, indication and output.
Source Profile and Physical Entry
DR-309 2.0 describes two input channels. At the same time, the menu includes three source profiles: Gyro, Magnetic and THD. Each channel used and the type of quotation accepted are selected. These are two different levels of organization: the profile name does not add another physical input to the device.
For example, an existing post retains two course sources, and the task lists three mode names. Before quotation, you need to establish which real devices and outputs are behind each item. It cannot be assumed that three labels on the display automatically mean three independent sensors connected simultaneously by separate lines.

What goes into the next system
Paragraph 2.3.13 of the RE states that the input data of the active channel is retransmitted through the output channel according to the parameters of the selected source. Therefore, the operator's decision to indicate a repeater cannot automatically be considered a local change of only one card. If the output is used further, its purpose must be taken into account in the project.
Suppose the customer wants to freely choose the reading at the remote station, but the next device always needs data from a certain source. This is an important starting point. It needs to be matched to the actual circuitry and functions of the selected configuration, rather than promising both results with one conventional connection via a repeater. The task may require a different transmission path or an additional coordinated device.
Line settings are also linked
In the same edition of the manual, the output parameters of OUTPUT are associated with the CH2 channel settings, since a single transceiver is used. This is another reason to list all the participants in the line in advance. The problem of “changing the output speed without affecting anything else” should not be considered confirmed by the presence of a separate designation OUTPUT.
The supplier will benefit from accurate source and recipient models, known parameters of their lines, and a description of expected behavior. When saving equipment, attach an accessible scheme. The article does not assign speeds, contacts or settings values for your object: they are determined by the documentation of the agreed composition. First establish the required connections, then select the configuration.
Separate display and transmission
The desired type of quotation and meaning of the course are also considered separately from the physical interface. The manufacturer lists HDT, HDG and HDM. This list is not a promise to receive any required set of messages to any external consumer. Specify what data the source actually gives and what the next device receives; the applicability is confirmed for the entire chain.
To discuss quotation, use a clear working example. The operator selects the intended source, the DR-309 displays its indication, and the next consumer checks the agreed result. In this case, it is separately recorded whether the external device should follow the operator's choice or save another source. Such an example detects the difference in requirements before the list of the same connectors.

Questions before buying
Gyro, Magnetic and THD mean three separate inputs?
In the above RE, two physical input channels and three configurable source profiles are described. For each profile, the channel and message type are indicated; the number of names is not equal to the number of inputs.
Does the output always retain the same source when the operator changes the reading?
According to paragraph 2.3.13., the active input is relayed according to the selected source. If the next appliance always needs a different source, this is a separate requirement for the overall circuit.
Can I assign any of the OUTPUT and CH2 parameters independently?
This manual links their parameters using a single transceiver. The possible configuration is confirmed by the exact configuration documentation and the requirements of both connections.
